Granada Festivals
Whether commemorating a national holiday, a saint, international films or the art of flamenco, Granada has a jam-packed cultural calendar brimming with all sorts of festivals and events. What's more, Enforex Granada is open all year round - even during holiday seasons - meaning you can experience this wonderful city during the most emblematic times of year! Here are just a few of Granada's most famous celebrations:
Semana Santa (Holy Week)
Held in March or April, Granada's Semana Santa celebration is amongst Spain's best. Thousands of people flock to Granada to see the city's 32 processions - consisting of robed penitents, brass bands, women in traditional black garb and lavish religious floats carried upon the shoulders of up to 40 men - and spend hours weaving through Granada's streets.
Cruces de Mayo (May Crosses)
This colorful celebration of religion and springtime is easily one of Granada's most beloved festivals and one that attracts large, happy flocks of locals and visitors. Groups slave over the annual decoration of their respective crosses, which are then erected in a public square or courtyard. People spend their days walking around the city enjoying the elaborately decorated crosses, and little tents are set up near each cross, in which you can find the typical activities of Andalusian festivals: eating, drinking, partying and dancing.
Navidad (Christmas)
From traditional Christmas caroles and elaborate Nativity scenes to New Years festivities and parades welcoming the three wise men (they bring the gifts, not Santa Claus), Christmas is a fascinating time of year to be in Granada.
